Faculty Brings Exciting Adult Classes to the Brookline Arts Center

(Brookline, MA May 2, 2007) This summer at the Brookline Arts Center, both new and returning Brookline
Arts Center instructors are bringing fun classes for adults. The summer semester at the Arts Center begins in
July.

New faculty member Yaron Dotan leads Drawing: From Simple Surfaces to Hyperrealism. In this class, students
will learn how to depict surfaces such as wood, soil, hair, skin and metal with graphite pencils. The end result
will be drawings that visually capture how these objects feel. Dotan also teaches a Drawing in Ink class for
children ages 9 and up.

Drawing 101: The Basics

Instructor: Yaron Dotan

Using careful observation and deconstruction of subjects, learn the fundamentals of drawing. Through shading, cross-hatching, and perspective students will discover how to create the illusion of texture and dimension. Lessons include line drawing, sketching, and gesture drawing. Enjoy the basics of drawing in a relaxed and informal class that easily inspires new or returning artists.

Beginner / Intermediate

Drawing in Ink

Instructor: Yaron Dotan

The deep color and fluid lines of ink allow for a variety of strikingly different yet delightful effects. Learn how to use many pens, ink techniques and tones. Students will also learn how to compensate for mistakes. Each class will feature a presentation of ink artwork, demonstrations, exercises and a new project. Limited to 10.
