Artist's Statement

In my ink drawings I am interested in exploring the crossroad between the conventionally sensual and the limits of perception.  My Op Art technique is meant to shake the eye as it tries to find familiarity in the most recognizable of patterns - the human face. Through these drawings I want to spark questions in the viewer about what perception is, and bring attention to its role as a filter that separates us from the objects we hope to understand.

Likewise, through my graphite drawings I have consistently expressed a preoccupation with the concept of Realism: both the simplicity of its allure, and the perceptual and epistemological cracks that appear on an otherwise seamless apparition.
